This page explains what cookies Brokers Alerts uses, what each one does, and how to change your preferences. For a fuller explanation of what we do with data generally, see our Privacy Policy.
What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device when you visit. Cookies let a site remember things between visits, such as your cookie preferences themselves, or help it understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. Some cookies are set by Brokers Alerts directly, others are set by third-party services we use, such as an analytics provider.
The Three Types of Cookies We Use
Necessary. These keep the site functional and secure. They include the cookie that remembers your cookie preferences, and any cookie needed to keep a form submission, like Report a Broker, working correctly as you fill it out. Necessary cookies can’t be turned off, since the site doesn’t work properly without them.
Analytics. These help us understand which pages get read, how people find the site, and where something isn’t working, so we can prioritize what to fix or write next. Analytics cookies are aggregate and don’t identify you personally. You can decline these without losing access to anything on the site.
Marketing. At launch, Brokers Alerts has no active marketing or affiliate-tracking cookies. This category exists in the consent banner because it will be used once affiliate partnerships go live, per our Affiliate Disclosure policy, and we’d rather show you the category now, empty, than add a new one later without warning. When a partner-tracking cookie goes active, it will be named here specifically, and the last updated date below will move.
Managing Your Preferences
You’ll see a cookie banner the first time you visit. You can accept all cookies, reject everything except the necessary ones, or open preferences and choose by category. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookie preference in your browser and revisiting the site, which will show the banner again. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly through browser settings, though blocking necessary cookies may affect how parts of the site work, including form submissions.
Third-Party Cookies
Where a cookie is set by a third-party service rather than Brokers Alerts directly, for example an analytics provider, that service’s own privacy practices govern how it processes that data, in addition to our own Privacy Policy. We choose analytics and other tools with a preference for providers that don’t require selling or sharing your data with advertisers.
Changes to This Policy
We’ll update this page whenever the cookies we use change, particularly once affiliate-tracking cookies go active. The date below reflects the last real change, not a routine republish.
