Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Brokers Alerts collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It covers the site generally and Report a Broker specifically, since that’s where the most sensitive information we handle comes from.

Information You Give Us Directly

Report a Broker submissions. When you submit a report, we collect the details of your experience with the broker, any evidence or documentation you choose to include, and, if you provide it, your contact information for follow-up. Contact information is optional, you can submit a report without giving us your name or email, though it may limit our ability to follow up if we need more detail before publishing anything based on your report.

Contact form and email. If you email us or use a contact form, we collect what you send us, including your email address, to respond to you.

Status-change notifications. If you sign up to be notified when a broker’s status changes, we collect your email address for that purpose only.

Information We Collect Automatically

Like most websites, we collect standard technical information when you visit, including IP address, browser type, device type, and which pages you view, through cookies and similar technology. See our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown of what we use this for and how to control it.

How We Use This Information

We use what you submit to investigate and, where warranted, publish broker reviews and status updates, respond to your questions, send status-change notifications you’ve opted into, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We also use anonymized, aggregated data from Report a Broker submissions to publish original reporting, for example, a piece analyzing patterns across a quarter’s worth of reports, without identifying individual reporters.

How We Protect a Reporter’s Identity

We do not share a reporter’s name or contact information with the broker being reported. We may use the substance of what you reported, the facts and details, in a published review or in our communication with a broker about a status change, but we do not attach your identity to it unless you’ve told us it’s fine to. The one exception is if we’re legally required to disclose it, for example under a valid court order, in which case we’ll comply with what the law requires.

How We Share Information

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with: service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers, each bound to use your data only to provide that service; and legal or regulatory authorities where required by law. We never connect a reporter’s identity to their report when dealing with the broker being reported, unless the reporter has agreed to it or the law requires it, as described above.

Data Retention

We keep Report a Broker submissions and related correspondence for as long as they remain relevant to a broker’s public status, since a broker’s history is part of what this site exists to document, and we may retain them longer where needed for legal reasons. We keep contact form and newsletter data for as long as you remain subscribed or until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to the periods set by our analytics provider, detailed in our Cookie Policy.

Your Rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@brokersalerts.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. Deleting your contact information from a past report doesn’t remove the substance of the report itself from a published review, since that reflects the broker’s history, but it does remove your identity from our records connected to it.

Children’s Privacy

Brokers Alerts is not directed at anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Cookies

We use cookies for necessary site functions, analytics, and, once active, marketing and affiliate tracking. Full detail, including how to manage your preferences, is on our Cookie Policy page.

International Visitors

Brokers Alerts is read by people in many countries, and our regional guides are built around specific markets. We apply the practices on this page consistently regardless of where you’re visiting from, in line with widely recognized data protection principles including the GDPR and comparable frameworks, though we have not yet completed any formal regional compliance certification given our current pre-launch stage.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We’ll update this page as our data practices change, particularly as new features and tools go live. The date below reflects the last real change.
